​​Fondley referred to as our big "Doof", Derby's favorite things were water and large stuffed toys.  Lots of toys!  He was basically an 85 LB lap dog.  

 

 Derby, sired by Bentley, was another of our American Champions.  He was the largest of our males and had the sweetest personality of any of our dogs.  He truely had the classic Golden Retriever disposition.  

 

He always greeted our guests at the door with at least three soft plushy toys stuffed in his mouth at the same time.  He was big on swimming and loved everything and everybody, other dogs, kids, cats, our 15 chickens - all of it!

  

We nicknamed him "Doof".  If you could have seen him with a mouth full of toys trying to climb on your lap, you would understand... 

 

The call name,  "Derby" was derived from his Registered name "...Triple Crown.."  Obviously referring to the Kentucky  Derby  which is one of the three grand horse races.

  

Derby was a great Champion, winning a 4 point major 12/16/2001, after receiving numerous reserves (1st runner up) to majors.  We knew it was just a matter of time and pesistence to get that last major win for his Championship. ew is mas  We knew if was just a matter of time
